Responsibilities
The McLean Adolescent Acute Residential Treatment Program (ART) is currently seeking per diem nurses for our 25 bed short-term psychiatric program for adolescents with acute mental health and substance use issues. Responsibilities include: Manages the short-term and long-term nursing care needs of ART patients within the standards of the department, hospital, land, and regulatory agencies. Manages all medication needs for patients and coordinates care with program psychiatrists. Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration. Accurately assesses patients needs, and identifies patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis. Accurately plans nursing interventions for assigned patients. Establishes a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients. Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration. Participates in patient groups and provides a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care. Provides for teaching needs of patient and significant others. Applicants should be able to assert themselves and work effectively in a team.
Qualifications
Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Psychiatric experience with Adolescents and substance use preferred.


Licensure:

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts


Skills:

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, ability to utilize the nursing process and to work collaboratively


Experience:

One year medical/psychiatric experience preferred
