POSITION SUMMARY: The director of Emergency department Services is responsible for overall planning, direction, and administration including budgeting considerations coordination and supervision of patients presenting to the Emergency department. This person implements the vision, mission, philosophy, evidence based practice, and standards in assigned areas. He/She encourages leadership development, policy development, and decision-making among staff. The director is also expected to evaluate quality and appropriateness of healthcare delivery in assigned areas. In addition the director accepts responsibility and accountability for services provided. In addition the director is responsible for assessing and developing new programs that would enhance patient safety, quality care and family involvement
Qualifications
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: Current RN License Preferred: ACLS, TNCC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: At least 5 years experience in acute care setting. Preferred: 3-5 years managerial or supervisory experience. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum: BSN or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree (or achieved within 5 years). KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, critical thinking ability, knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, and Emergency/Trauma/Critical Care. Minimum: Effective front line supervision, word processing/spreadsheet, time management, clinical proficiency, Title XXII, Quality Improvement Preferred: Completion of formal management training **Not using outside vendors at this time
