Description

The Registered Nurse/Dialysis Coordinator ensures safe, therapeutic dialytic therapy to ESRD clients through the management of clinical staff and monitoring of the clinical environment.  The Dialysis Coordinator will meet with the unit medical director to monitor quality and compliance with regulatory agencies.  The incumbent will motivate staff, foster teamwork and a positive atmosphere.  The Dialysis Coordinator will model effective communication skills and working relationships.  The Coordinator acts as a liaison with the Family Nurse Practitioner or the Nephrologist to monitor the client, meet individual client needs, and review patient care plans.  They also mediate with staff and/or clients in situations that impact unit functioning or grievance issues. 

 

The Dialysis Coordinator will also:

1.  Recognize client or employee issues that compromise care or regulatory compliance.  Provide timely notification and intervention to appropriate parties.

2.  Conduct mandatory in-services and bi-monthly staff meetings.

3.  Recognize staff educational needs.  Participate in dialysis staff educational planning.

4.  Participate in CQI and management:  Monitor all clients' laboratory values monthly; meet with the unit medical director for care planning and unit review; function as anemia manager monitoring Hgb or Hct biweekly and adjust epogen per protocol; develop a method to identify staff adherence to proper techniques and procedures; perform and monitor monthly client recirculation studies and provide timely intervention.

5.  Maintenance of staff related paperwork:  follow mandatory Intermountain education for staff.  Maintenance of complete staff files including vaccinations and laboratory values.

6.  Perform other functions as assigned. 

 

The Dialysis Coordinator is also responsible for assisting with unit fiscal stability; staff scheduling; timely, appropriate intervention with staff performance issues and yearly evaluations; facilitating effective working relationships among dialysis centers.


Qualifications

Current and applicable RN Nursing License for the location in which the nurse practices. Clinical Coordinator position requires incumbent to have 12 months of nursing experience.  Must have 6 months of chronic dialysis RN experience.  Prefer Clinical Nephrology Nurse Certification.  Healthcare Provider CPR card required by start date.
