Performs basic direct patient care activities, patient comfort procedures and technical skills under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Additionally, functions competently in the additional role of a Health Unit Coordinator or a Cardiac Monitor Technician. Requirements: Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have current BLS training.
Additionally: For Patient Care Technician Component of Role: Must present a Certified Nursing Assistant document and/or document demonstrating successful completion of first semester of nursing school (fundamentals of nursing or equivalent). Must successfully complete the didactic and clinical components of PCT training. Must successfully complete pre-employment competency testing that may include but not limited to medical terminology, customer service, data entry and typing skills. EMT license (for Emergency Department only). For Health Unit Coordinator Component of Role: Must successfully complete pre-employment competency testing that may include but not limited to Health Unit Coordinator, medical terminology, customer service, receptionist, telephone, data entry, and typing skills. For Cardiac Monitor Technician Component of Role: Must successfully complete pre-employment competency testing that may include, but not limited to, Basic EKG interpretation, medical terminology, customer service, data entry and typing skills. Must successfully complete a post offer physical assessment based on the esssential job functions.
Candidates must have a current, valid BLS card upon hire. Associates are required to have American Heart Association - BLS Healthcare Provider, or the American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
