Job Details GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Nursing Department Assistant III (NDAIII ) is responsible for providing for patients' activities of daily living; maintaining a safe and clean environment; maintaining established levels of supplies; maintaining proper equipment function; and transportation of patients and errands as directed. In addition, the NDA III works under the direction of the RN and is to assist in direct patient care tasks (i.e. performs EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, dressing changes, colostomy care and documentation of vital signs).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
* Ability to read, write, and speak English.
* Basic math skills: ability to add and subtract.
* Ability to work independently.
* Strong customer service and team orientation.
* Ability to work under pressure & meet strict deadlines.
* Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relationships with those contacted
* in the course of work.
* Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands.
* Flexibility in day-to-day actions and duties.
Required Length and Type of Experience
* Previous nursing assistant experience preferred.
* STNA certification desirable.
* BCLS certification within one year of service.

Required Physical and Environmental Demands
* Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds (with assistance). Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
