OverView:
Med-Surg/Telemetry (4C - NETU)(Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the AZ. State Board of Nursing and current hospital experience working as a CNA required) Performs routine patient care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. The nursing assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his or her assigned area. BHS Service Standards and support of healing environment are exhibited in all aspects of the nursing assistant's performance.

Responsibilities:
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health. Provides basic hygiene with assistance appropriate to the patient's level of function. Assists patients in meeting their basic nutritional needs while following current diet orders, precautions and restrictions. Assists patients with elimination needs appropriate to their level of function. Assists patients in maintaining an optimum level of mobility through ROM, ambulation, transfers and turns, and cough and deep-breathing exercises.2. Collects patient data and specimens. Obtains vital signs, heights and weights, and other delegated measurements per area policy and standards of care. Collects specimens according to policy and procedure.3. Recognizes and reports to the RN/LPN changes in the patient's health status and responses to treatment. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by the RN/LPN consistent with demonstrated competencies.5. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient treatment in an accurate, timely and legible manner.6. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Maintains a clean, orderly and well-stocked environment.

Qualifications:
Must have healthcare clinical training or experience. Certification and high school diploma or equivalent may be required in specific areas, preferred in all other areas.
