The Registered Nurse as a CVICU Staff Nurse in Adult Critical Care performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients. Responsibilities also include:

Meets Standards of Care and Standards of Practice.

Supervises assigned personnel and provides education and clinical support for the care of cardiac surgery patients.

Promotes collaboration with physicians and personnel of other departments.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and staff support appropriate to patients served.

Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over life span and possesses ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedures.

Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment.

Minimum Requirements:- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing- Successful completion of basic critical care course or equivalent training for this hospital's critical care course- Minimum 3 years experience in Cardiovascular Surgery ICU Recovery and Care- Current State of Texas RN license required- Basic Cardiac Life Support - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - CCRN and CSC preferred
