Job Description:

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.

The Clinical Nurse will manage and coordinate the care of patients in the Immunotherapy Group of the Asthma, Allergy and Immunology/Division of Clinical Immunology.

Primary responsibilities:
P Intravenous therapy
P Initiate therapy for infusion reactions
P Blood drawing for special tests and research protocols
P Administration of routine vaccinations and investigational drugs
P Skin tests
P Patient assessment and teaching
P Screen new referrals to insure appropriate information is received by physician
P Liaison with physicians and nursing staff
P Coordination with referring physicians
P Nursing Documentation for immunotherapy patients
P Clinical research protocols:
Administration of drug for clinical trials
Maintain detailed records for all patients on research protocols

Job Qualifications:

1. Current Registered Nurse licensed in New York State.
2. Must have relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice; new graduates - possess current knowledge of the nursing process and its application.
3. Evidence of ability to maintain interpersonal relationships, communicate appropriately to others, work effectively to solve problems and confronts issues appropriately.
4. Demonstrates a strong commitment to furthering institutional goals through interdisciplinary teamwork, effective communication, and the ability to think creatively.
